The original Half Moon Festival goes off twice a month (at each half moon!) and it's a fun event. It happens a week before and a week after the Full Moon Party in the jungle in Ban Tai with resident DJs playing tribal house and trance beats.

The party is located deep in the jungle in Ban Tai and a large dance floor has been made along with a chill out deck. There are flourescent lights and psychedelic string sculptures dangling from the coconut trees giving it a really differnet vibe to the Full Moon Party.

There are food stalls, flourescent paint stalls, t-shirt stands and currently a 500 Baht entrance fee (which includes an alcoholic drink).

New bylaws regarding noise and disturbance have come into effect on Koh Phangan due to the growing number of parties located close to domestic areas.

The Police and local officials have set new rules for closing times of many of the parties and The Half Moon party now often closes one of it's two parties early. Please be aware that one of the parties may close at 2am whilst the other may close 6am.

The closing times are not published anywhere therefore you will not know the time of closure until the party actually closes. So if you want a long night to enjoy yourself then maybe arrive a little earlier than planned.

If you are staying in Haadrin, then you will need to grab a taxi to get to Half Moon as its located about 10KM away but there are taxi's running to and from the party all night long!
